I would like to start out by saying that I am thankful that there is a site like this one on the net dedicated to all of us patients suffering from tibial plateau fractures.
I’m 45 years old & I broke my left leg on 4/28/2014. I’m almost 2 months into my recovery now. I have to say that I have been frustrated by the whole recovery process since day 1 & that the orthopedic specialist’s do not seem to have any clear answers. First I was told to hold my leg upright and out for a 3 week period. Then I was told that the fracture had healed incorrectly underneath my knee & the new instruction to hold my leg in a 25 degree or 25 percent downward position for another 3 week period. I just had my third follow up appointment yesterday, where I was told that I would be prescribed a device that is supposed to stimulate the bone. Has anyone had any experiences that they would like to share with me on utilizing a bone stimulator device to speed up recovery time? Does anyone know if this bone stimulator helps or actually works? I welcome any feedback available on this new course of treatment.
